EVENT OVERVIEW:     The LG Action Sports World Tour is the global points series for action sports, in which the world’s top pros in skateboarding, BMX, inline skating and freestyle motocross (FMX) attempt to qualify for the World Championships.  The event in Birmingham will be tied into the well-known National Adventure Sports Show (NASS), Europe’s largest action sports consumer trade show, and will feature the best 110 athletes from around the world, including all of the UK’s top pros.
     
2006 DATES:   29 - 30 July
     
LOCATION:   NEC Arena in Birmingham (in conjunction with NASS 2006).  The NEC Arena is attached to the Birmingham International Airport and the Birmingham Train Station.

TV COVERAGE:   The event will be distributed to 440 million homes in 140 countries on the following networks:
  • 5 hours of national TV coverage in the UK on Channel 4
  • 3 hours of pan-European coverage on Eurosport
  • 6 hours of pan-EU coverage on the Extreme Sports Channel
  • 4.5 hours of coverage in the US on OLN
     
PRO COMPETITIONS:   BMX (street course and half-pipe contests)
Inline Skating (street course and half-pipe)
Skateboarding (street course and half-pipe)
Freestyle Motocross (exhibitions)
     
PARTICIPANTS:   The event features one hundred ten (110) of the top professional athletes from skateboarding, BMX, inline skating and Freestyle Motocross, including many of the biggest names in those sports.  The Tour consists of athletes from 23 countries.

Some of the top pros that are expected to attend in this international field of talent include: Ryan Nyquist (USA), Simon Tabron (UK), Ross McGouran (UK), Sandro Dias (BRA), Ronnie Creager (USA), Mathias Ringstrom (SWE), John Parker (USA), Taig Khris (FRA), Fabiola da Silva (BRA), Nel Martin (ESP), Eito Yasutoko (JAP), Takeshi Yasutoko (JAP), Beni Huber (SUI), Shane Yost (TAS), Sven Boekhorst (HOL), and Tobias Wicke (GER).

Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman will perform exhibitions at the event.

     
MUSIC:   UK bands will perform live at the event.  In addition, DJ’s, b-boys, graffiti artists and scratchers will battle.

HISTORY:   2006 will be the tenth year of this series and the third year in the UK.  The LG Action Sports World Tour is the only global competition circuit in action sports.
