Pre-event Media Frenzy at the 2006 LG Action Sports World Tour!
Competing athletes provide eye candy and sound bites for media, previewing the weekend’s events
By Valerie Belardinelli
Local, national and international media turned out early to catch a “behind the scenes” glimpse of the 2006 LG Action Sports World Tour stop in Birmingham, England, that kicked-off on Saturday, July 29 through Sunday, July 30 at the NEC Arena, in conjunction with the National Adventure Sports Show (NASS).
Photographers and camera crews from outlets such as the Extreme Channel, Channel 4, ESPN, Hooker Magazine and TAG Magazine were on hand to preview the amazing vert stunts by various competing athletes like England’s own Simon Tabron and the world champions of inline vert, Eito and Takeshi Yasutoko.
In addition to pro skateboard, BMX and inline competitions, the event highlighted vert demos by legendary skateboard and BMX icons, Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman, who filled the UK airwaves early Saturday afternoon on Radio 1, informing over 6 million listeners about the weekend’s event and activities.
